Stadium of Light Set for Tuesday Night Football
The Stadium of Light will be buzzing next March as Sunderland welcome Preston North End for a Tuesday night Championship fixture. Both sides will be looking to grab three points when they meet on March 11, 2025, with kick-off set for 7:45 PM. Régis Le Bris's Sunderland come into this one with a fairly solid run of form, while Paul Heckingbottom's Preston will be hoping to improve their away record that's seen them struggle on the road.

Sunderland Finding Their Groove
The Black Cats have been in decent nick lately. Five wins from their last ten? Not too shabby at all. They've been particularly impressive on their travels, picking up victories at Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough, and Derby. But how about their home form? Well, it's been a bit hit-and-miss. Two wins, two draws, and a loss in their last five at the Stadium of Light tells the story. That defeat to Hull and the draw against Plymouth weren't ideal. But hey, they've shown they can grab late points, like that last-gasp equalizer against Watford back in February.
Preston's Cup Heroics vs Road Struggles
Preston might be feeling good about themselves after that cracking 3-0 FA Cup win over Burnley. Cup runs can do wonders for confidence, can't they? They've also knocked out Wycombe in the cup and grabbed a solid win against Middlesbrough in the league. Their away form, though? It's been a bit rough. Just one win in their last four road trips doesn't inspire much confidence. Can they turn that around in Sunderland? Their solitary away victory at Norwich shows they can do it on their day.

Mid-Week Matchup to Watch
With Sunderland winning half their last ten and Preston managing four victories in the same span, we're set for what could be an intriguing contest. The home side has been finding the net regularly, with 15 goals in their last ten outings. Preston haven't been too far behind with 13. Defensively, both teams have been fairly solid. Remember the last time these two met? Football's funny old game - form often goes out the window in these Championship battles. The Stadium of Light under those floodlights creates a special atmosphere. Will Preston's cup form translate to their league performances? Or will Sunderland's home advantage prove decisive?
